Scuba gear
Scuba gear includes many items such as regulators. What makes recreational
scuba diving possible is the scuba regulator. What function does the
regulator serve? It reduces the pressure of the air coming from the
tank to the ambient water pressure and then delivers it to one’s
mouth.
A dive computer is an integral part of scuba gear. It does not plan
a dive but delivers important information to the diver. The diver is
always responsible for safe planning. The computer keeps track of water
depth, time spent underwater, computes the amount of nitrogen in the
body, alerts of unsafe levels of nitrogen and assists the diver in making
appropriate decompression stops.
Another vital piece of scuba gear is scuba booties. They are similar
to neoprene socks. Some are made with zippered sides and have hard bottoms
so one can walk over rocks and other hard surfaces. Booties will protect
the diver’s feet from burns, cuts and abrasions when walking on
rough boat decks, rocky beaches and hot pavement. They will also keep
one’s feet warm.
